We saw Wilanów Palace, only external view. We didn`t go inside. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilan%C3%B3w_Palace Wilanów Palace survived the time of Poland's partitions and wars and has preserved its authentic historical qualities. It was built for the Polish king John III Sobieski in the last quarter of the 17th century and later was enlarged by other owners.[1] It represents the characteristical type of baroque suburban residence entre cour et jardin (between the entrance court and the garden). Its architecture is very original: it is a merger of European art with old Polish building tradition.[1] In its elevation and palace interiors antique symbols glorify the Sobieski family, especially the military triumphs of the king.We visited Sejm, the Polish Parliament The Sejm (pronounced: [sɛjm] (help·info)) is the lower house of the Polish parliament.
Before the 20th century, the term "Sejm" referred to the entire three-chamber Polish parliament, comprising the lower house (Chamber of Envoys; Polish: Izba Poselska), the upper house (Senate; Polish: Senat) and the King. It was commonly termed a three-estate parliament. Since the Second Polish Republic (1918-1939), the term "Sejm" has referred only to the lower house of the parliament; the upper house is called the "Senat".en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sejm_of_the_Republic_of_PolandThe guard didn`t like my taking photos of him. He said he wasn`t a polar bear for tourists... Fortunately, I got away with it... A plaque to Parliament members fallen during WW2 A plaque to commemorate the visit of JPII We witnessed the press conference of then opposition member, Mr Komorowski. Today he is the Head of the Sejm. The restrooms were sieged. Anybody can enter the building and watch sessions from the balcony. First you need to get a pass, though. Next were the Government Offices Yes, we were allowed to see the government offices in Warsaw too. These photos are unique. Not many Poles can boast of being there. Our school, though, sends a trip to Warsaw every year and we are welcome with open arms by residents of the Polish capital city. They are glad to receive such a visit from the cultural intellectual city of Krakow.
